I’m so glad you are here! Taking the first step and reaching out for help is not easy- I know this from firsthand experience. I hope that after reading about me that you feel safe, valued and loved. Let me tell you about myself because I believe that when you go to counseling it is a relationship which starts with knowing your counselor.
I am passionate about helping people because I know all to well the ramifications and impacts that trauma, crisis, abuse, and life in general can have. I am a veteran and a proud wife of an Airman. I am a mother of four beautiful children and Jesus is my everything!
If I were to be completely honest, I never imagined I would be where I am today.
As a child I grew up in an abusive home. My family was every bit dysfunctional and it was normal to me. My mother was terminally ill and safety did not exist in my world. I lived a life full of fear and as I grew up, I myself became dysfunctional.
My trauma and abuse caused intense panic attacks that left me feeling debilitated. I could tell you countless stories but in the end, they made me into the compassionate and loving person I am today. I made a choice one day that I no longer wanted to live as a victim but wanted to be a victor and I am so thankful I did.
It was a long process but it brought me to where I am today. I believe that God allows things in our lives and some of them are difficult but
He promises to use it for our good for those that are in Him. That is what He did for me. With God’s help and an amazing therapist, I was able to face my trauma and allow for healing.
There is hope and there is healing and my job is to help you. I tell my clients all the time, “you let me into battle, so know that you are not alone in the war.” I truly mean what I say, I will be on your side, I will pray with you and I will fight with you to conquer your trauma and help you become victorious!
I believe with Christ’s help and incorporating Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy into my counseling practice that healing can occur. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that assists people in healing from the symptoms and emotional distress caused by disturbing life experiences, including trauma. Through God’s grace, EMDR uses eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help process and reframe difficult memories.
The benefits of EMDR include:
Many clients have found that with faith and EMDR can be a powerful tool for addressing challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, phobias, and self-esteem issues. I look forward to working with you in this journey, trusting that with Christ’s healing power, you will experience deeper peace and restoration.
I want to share with you a bit about my role as a temperament counselor and how, with God’s help, this approach can bring powerful healing and growth into your life. Temperament counseling is a unique form of counseling that helps us understand the God-given temperament you were created with. It explores how your natural strengths, weaknesses, and emotional needs influence your thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.
By identifying your specific temperament, we can work together to develop strategies that align with your natural tendencies, helping you navigate life’s challenges more effectively. With God’s guidance, this method helps you grow in self-awareness, strengthen your relationships, and align your emotional and spiritual health with His purpose for you.
Through this process, I believe that:
My prayer is that as we work together in this journey, God will reveal His plan for your healing and that you will experience the grace and freedom that comes from knowing and understanding yourself more fully.
